Orange and Intel work together on the new open-source operating system Meego, which was launched at this years MWC. Meego is a new Linux-based operating system from the merger of Nokia’s Maemo and Moblin and Intel specifically for portable devices like smart phones and netbooks, and other non-desktop platforms such as television sets and connected vessels.
Orange Meego hoping to attract more customers use for its Internet-based mobile devices. Presenting Meego at MWC earlier this year, Nokia CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, said: “This is Meego an open innovation ecosystem to one seconds, also taking in players from different sectors.” He added: “Simply put, Meego is a new era of mobile computing.”
The first version of OS Meego is in the second quarter of 2010 with other devices Meego still expected to start later this year.
